Securing Tropical Forests
for the Future
Norway’s International Climate and Forest Initiative (NICFI) is Norway’s most important international endeavour to fight climate change and protect nature.

Why are tropical forests so important?
Tropical forests are large sources of climate gas emissions, due to deforestation. They could instead be a big part of the climate solution.
Why are tropical forests being destroyed?
Tropical forests have been and are still being converted to other land uses on a large scale worldwide. What drives deforestation is a complex mix of causes and actors.

Without the rainforests there is no sustainable future on the planet
