Norway will pay 530 million NOK for reduced deforestation in Indonesia
After 10 years of hard work, deforestation in Indonesia is going down. Emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in Indonesia were lower in 2016-17 than in the preceding decade. In response, Norway will pay up to 530 million NOK (approx. $56 million) for the good results. This is the first time Norway pays for Indonesia’s results in emission reductions.
Nine European countries strengthen cooperation against deforestation
The European countries that make up the Amsterdam Declarations Partnership have renewed their commitment to eliminate deforestation in relation to agricultural commodities until 2025. Now also Belgium and Spain have joined the partnership.

Key milestones for The LEAF Coalition
The LEAF coalition is a private-public collaboration to mobilize large-scale funding for forest lands and jurisdictions capable of reducing and reversing tropical deforestation. In 2021, Norway joined the coalition as one of the founding members.
